No idea how UX works, but a friend says it might fix my site - advice?

I run a small local business and I know my website isn't great, but I don't really understand what's wrong with it. Customers call us confused about our services even though the info is all there. A friend who's in tech told me to stop fiddling with colors and fonts and look into proper UX design — something about how people move through a site and where they get stuck. He sent me a link to a service he used, but I'm still trying to figure out what exactly these UX folks do, and how to tell a good one from a bad one. I'm a total beginner here. For someone who's never touched this world, what should I expect from a UX design process? Is it worth it for a small business, or is this just for apps and tech companies? Any tips on finding a reliable resource or service without getting lost in buzzwords would help a lot. I just want less confused customers and fewer phone calls asking where to click.

I was in the exact same spot running a small service business. Our site wasn't broken, it just didn't seem to guide customers anywhere useful. I thought I needed better design, but a friend told me the real issue might be that nobody had ever mapped out what the site was supposed to do for the business first. Not just visuals, but the whole thinking behind what to prioritize and why. A structured approach like Neuronux product strategy gave me a clear plan before touching any pixels. It helped me stop guessing what users wanted and build something that actually reduced those confused phone calls. Might save you from spending on the wrong fix.
