Hello everyone! Tell me, which Ethernet cable should I choose in 2025 for home use? I currently have a regular CAT5e, but I already feel that sometimes the Internet freezes, especially when I connect several devices. I plan to buy a new cable, since many say that for stable operation with new devices it is better to choose something more modern, like CAT6 or even CAT6a. But there are so many options on the market! So I don’t know what to choose. What if in the future I need to connect some devices that support higher speeds? Is it worth overpaying for more expensive cables like CAT7 or CAT8, or are they excessive for regular home use?

Interesting discussion! In fact, when I was choosing a cable for my home, I also faced this choice. At first I thought about taking CAT7, because forums wrote that it would be ideal for stable Internet. But then I realized that for me, for example, 10 Gbit/s is too much. Even 1 Gbit/s, which CAT6 supports, is more than enough for 4K video and normal tasks. So in the end I bought CAT6, and there were no problems with the Internet. But I agree with the previous comments that it is important not only to choose the right cable, but also to consider the quality of the router that supports the required speeds.
