Early design risk control

Hi folks, on a mixed use project in schematic design, I am concerned about design driven risks affecting cost and schedule. What technical reviews or coordination steps are most effective at this stage to identify constructability issues before construction documents are finalized?

From my experience working on mixed use projects at schematic design level, the biggest risk comes from decisions made without structured technical validation. When I was involved in similar situations, engaging Consulting Services early helped me translate conceptual design into buildable solutions by reviewing structural grids, vertical circulation, and mechanical zoning together. I learned that early interdisciplinary coordination exposes scope gaps, unrealistic assemblies, and sequencing conflicts that directly affect cost and schedule. By addressing these technical risks before construction documents, I was able to stabilize budgets, reduce redesign cycles, and move into later phases with far fewer unknowns.
