So I kind of stumbled into this whole concrete project situation without planning it. We moved into our house a few years ago and the driveway looked fine at first glance, just a couple small cracks here and there. But after two winters those cracks got bigger and water started pooling near the garage door every time it rained.

The ground preparation alone can make or break how long the slab lasts. If the soil isn’t compacted correctly or the drainage isn’t planned out, the surface can start shifting after just a few seasons. We eventually decided to hire professionals and asked them to design a decorative patio instead of just replacing the plain slab. The result honestly surprised me. They added a textured pattern and proper edging so it looks way more finished than the old concrete ever did.
