I’ve been scrolling through a bunch of portfolios lately and can’t tell what’s actually more in demand these days — hyper-realistic scenes or stylized ones. I’m working on a pitch for a new game and want to follow current trends but also not blend into the crowd. A hybrid approach seems fun but might complicate things. Just wondering what others are seeing out there — especially from the hiring side.

A lot of trailers lately seem to blend stylized lighting with semi-realistic textures — kind of that "real but slightly exaggerated" vibe. It works well with performance too, especially when you're aiming for multiple platforms.
From what I’ve seen recently, stylized stuff is definitely making a comeback, especially in mobile and indie games. Realism still rules for AAA, but hybrid’s kind of that sweet spot where you can make something unique and technically manageable.
