I’m trying to figure out how much it costs to rent a bus for a day in Europe. We’re planning a family trip with about 20 people, and we want to visit a few places in one day. I’ve seen different prices online, but they range so much — from €400 to over €1000! I guess it depends on the city and the type of bus, but I’m not sure what’s a fair price. Has anyone here rented a bus before? What should I expect in terms of cost?

I’ve never rented a bus, but I’ve heard that it’s best to book early if you want to get a better price. Prices can go up closer to the date, especially during tourist season. I imagine booking a smaller bus for 20 people would be cheaper than a full-size one. Also, check if there are any extra fees like for fuel or cleaning, just to avoid surprises later.
It really depends on the city, distance, and the size of the bus. I rented a bus in Cologne for a company event last year, and it cost around €650 for the whole day. It was a full-size bus for 40 people, so for a smaller group like yours, you might pay less. We booked through bus hire cologne, and they were super helpful. They gave us options for hourly rates or full-day packages, which I think is great if you have a shorter trip planned. Try getting a quote from them.
