OVERVIEW

Leadership Atlanta recognizes that its mission of building a better community in the Atlanta region would be more readily accomplished if adults were inspired at an earlier age to take on and exercise real leadership committed to serving the common good. L.E.A.D. is an initiative of Leadership Atlanta, a leadership program for young professionals. Targeted to a diverse group of motivated and promising individuals between the ages of 25 and 32, L.E.A.D. is designed to equip young leaders with key skills, knowledge and contacts early in their professional and community service careers. The program integrates skill development with an exploration of community issues and needs. L.E.A.D. tuition is $1000. This program runs from September-April and includes two overnight retreats and five full training days that teach leadership skill development, inclusion and diversity training, and broad exposure to the community. The program also includes a hand-on service learning component and one-on-one mentoring. The integration of skill development, leadership development, and exploration of community issues sets this program apart from existing programs in the Atlanta region. Now entering its sixth year, L.E.A.D. boasts 185 graduates from the first five classes. These young leaders, and all who follow in their footsteps, represent the next generation of leadership for metro Atlanta.

They will be educated on the founding principles, heritage, and history of Atlanta.
Action
L.E.A.D. graduates will be inspired and prepared to take on greater societal responsibility in the community. L.E.A.D. demonstrates the rewards and benefits of giving back to the community by exposing the participants to various activities and missions of non-profit, community-based organizations around Atlanta. As a result, graduates will inspire others to become actively involved in their communities at an even younger age.
Direction
