OVERVIEW

What is L.E.A.D. ATLANTA?
Bringing highly motivated and energetic people together, L.E.A.D. ATLANTA is a comprehensive leadership program for young professionals between the ages of 25 and 32. Centered on the founding principles of leadership, education, action, and direction, the program is designed to equip young people with key skills, knowledge and contacts early in their professional and community service careers. The seven-session program is built around a problem-solving project. The integration of skill development, leadership development, and exploration of community issues makes this program uniquely different from existing programs that target this age group.

How does L.E.A.D. ATLANTA work?
Following a competitive process, the approximately 35 L.E.A.D. ATLANTA class members will begin to build relationships and skills during an opening retreat. They will be divided into teams according to the community issues that they are most passionate about, as identified during the application process. Over the course of their L.E.A.D. ATLANTA experience, the project teams will build upon the skills they develop and the knowledge they gain to develop a solution for a specific community issue in their chosen area.

What benefits will each participant receive?
  Leadership
L.E.A.D. ATLANTA will foster critical-thinking skills essential in the workplace and community. Participants will enhance their leadership skills in the areas of team building, decision-making, problem solving and community awareness. As a result, participants walk away from the program feeling self-sufficient, connected and driven leaders ready to tackle any issue.
Education

L.E.A.D. ATLANTA will increase participant’s awareness and understanding of the challenges and issues facing our communities. The program will provide the vital tools and resources each member will need in order to tackle these pertinent issues. They will be educated on the founding principles, heritage, and history of Atlanta.
Action
L.E.A.D. ATLANTA graduates will be inspired and prepared to take on greater societal responsibility in the community. L.E.A.D. ATLANTA engrains the rewards and benefits of giving back to the community at an earlier age by exposing the participants to various activities and missions of non-profit, community-based organizations around Atlanta. As a result, graduates will inspire others to become actively involved in their communities at an even younger age.
Direction
L.E.A.D. ATLANTA will connect each participant with well-established mentors of the community. Participants will build networking relationships, learn from diverse peers, and develop a better sense of direction for building themselves and a better community.

How will the community benefit?
The Atlanta community will see greater community involvement and visibility from leaders at a younger age. Additional opportunities will be created as participants shape and influence the community. Leadership among young leaders in the community continues, as they remain committed and involved to serving Atlanta.
